| this is a account used to congregate all the news and ideas that are going into the magazine created by Small Press, so far everything is in the planning stage, but it is always good to get the name out early. In the favorites there are previews of series featured in the magazine, as more are submitted they will be added to favorites. this is the basic information about making comic books for Small Press WHAT IS IT? Have you ever seen the shonen jump, or shojo beat? How about Heavy metal? It would be much like those just based in america. We want to create a magazine that serves a comic book anthology, much like how comics were originally printed years ago. We want to debut new stories people haven't read before. OBJECTIVE: My philosophy is that everyone has the story they want to tell, and i really want them to tell it. If you want to tell your story, i'll print it. But don't get it wrong, it won't be easy. It will take long hours and dedication. But I'll be there to lend a hand, along with an awesome editor, and our fellow artists. we are in this all togeather, until the bitter end. So, to all those who are inspired to tell their story, the line start behind me. Travis Small, of Small Press WHAT WHERE LOOKING FOR: You're free to use any art style, and any original story you like, and you would retain all rights to your creation, Small press, as a company would only ask for the printing license, We DO NOT want to own your ideas, just print them COMIC FORMAT: the page layout is 7.25 by 10.5, the space is yours to manage as you like, but i would suggest quarter inch margins for pages except full, and two page spreads. stories can be anywhere from ten to twenty four pages in length, Plus a cover page. For the first issue in your series, I suggest a two page spread cover, as there will be no story recap page. *NEW: I should have mentioned earlier, all stories mush be in black and white. WRITERS: writers are welcome to submit ideas, and we will try to pair you up with a like minded artist, but that can be a slow process, it would be faster for you to find someone to work with then submit your story. PAYMENT: Also, payment is payed by percentage. When circulation increases, the forecast is a year from launch date, payment will change to a good page rate. Also remember you will make money off all reprints, as well as your own profits from any merchandising, cartoons or movies that result from your idea. PAYMENT BOTTOM LINE: For each magazine we sell you make about 10 cents, this is based on the actual profit divided amongst all contributors, which for now is a prospected six total, we have one for sure (me) and three others who are working on rough drafts. colaberations will NOT be payed double, it is between the members of the creative team to decide how the money is handled. Current status: For now, we are working on finishing rough layouts, or names for stories, this is due in the first part of may, so take your time. prospected launch date is in august. |
